On fire apparently. No idea how bad it is.

It'll probably improve the place.

Re: The Boleyn

Let's face it, with the prospect of losing revenue from 25 packed match days in which they must net Circa £10-20K a pop I would imagine there is only one destiny for the Boleyn as well as the other pubs around Green Street and the Barking Road area.
The area is so substantially muslim now we could well face ignominy of the Boleyn being converted to a mosque...

Sad that you all hate it. West Hams local for 110 years.
From Beerintheevening:
Architecturally gorgeous pub, with cut glass and wood features, it would be very fashionable were it in a trendy corner of north or west London. Sadly it's very faded and presumably relies on match days to keep going. Has one real ale (although it had finished on my most recent visit). Plenty of staff on match days, so queues not too bad.

Got to admit, I do love the building. Hope it doesn't burn down.

Very nice building and used to be a good laugh once. But these days it doesn't serve beer and is full of yoots and grownups who behave like children. Used to like going in there 20 years ago. You were even allowed a glass back then.

I have good memories of the Boleyn. Generations of my family have drunk in there for at least 100 of it's 110 years.
It's demise seems inevitable though. Sad.

Just a little pet hate but it would be good if the fans, owners, commentators etc would actually pronounce the name of the stadium correctly ie not BO-lyn but B-lyn as in Anne Boleyn 2nd wife of Henry VIII.

Re: The Boleyn

It went downhill after they got rid of the pool tables for standing on. Sad to hear this though, its architecturally a real Victorian area pub.. I'd be interested to know exactly how old it is.
Being on fire doesn't matter though really in the long run, I suppose. The heritage of the entire area is already wiped out, might as well let it burn.

I seem to remember that it was built in 1900. That's because there was some nonsense a while back that an owner put 1899 on a deed at some point because it sounded more historic than 1900. Or something.

Listed building but it's a shame as on match days it's full of bellends spraying beer all over the shop.
